Curious about the future of arable farming or pig production?

See industry leading research at the University of Leeds. We will visit the Regen-Ag trials and the National Pig Centre (NPC), which is the only site in the country running simultaneous trials with indoor and outdoor pigs.

The regen trials investigate the impact of some of the principals traditionally regarded as ‘regenerative’ such as reduced tillage, the use of cover crops and herbal leys and the integration of livestock. The trials have been running for a number of years, releasing a wealth of information about the impact of these practices on emissions, biodiversity and farm resilience.

Experience from The National Pig Centre will be shared through an immersive presentation, showing footage from inside the Centre, and discussing the learnings from research with both the indoor and outdoor production systems.  Topics will include adapting feed to remove soya from the ration, slurry management for housed pigs and maintaining continuous vegetation cover for the outdoor pigs to reduce runoff and water pollution.
