Entries for the 2023 Soil Farmer of the Year competition close on the 5th of March 2023.
Since 2015, IfA has partnered with Farm Carbon Toolkit, to celebrate farmers and growers who are passionate about managing their soils as an integral part of building a resilient business.
The 2023 SFOTY competition is once again being kindly sponsored by Cotswold Seeds and Hutchinsons.
Why get involved?
The competition is about recognising, celebrating and learning from the farms which are taking leaps in improving soil health.
As part of the competition, the top three shortlisted farmers will be supported to host farm walks which bring farmers together to share best practice and innovations that improve soil health.
The competition has become widely recognised by organisations working in soil health. Past winners include Billy Lewis from Herefordshire, David Miller from Hampshire, Simon Cowell from Essex and Jake Freestone from Gloucestershire.
Cotswold Seeds have awarded seeds to the three finalists every year.
Who can enter?
If you have implemented practices to improve the health of soil on your farm and are seeing an impact from these changes then this competition is for you.
It is open to any UK farm – regardless of the farm system – and is a chance to be recognised for the steps you’re taking to safeguard soils as part of a productive farm ecosystem.
