The ADOPT fund offers grants of £50,000–£100,000 to support on-farm trials led by active farmers in England, for projects of 6 months – 2yrs that tackle real-world agricultural challenges.

Kate Pressland

Kate is the manager for the Centre for Effective Innovation in Agriculture (CEIA) working with the top agricultural universities to increase the impact of agricultural research and innovation. With 20 years of experience delivering projects in sustainable land management and R&D Kate sits on Harper Adams University’s Sustainable Farm Networks steering group and Defra’s Farming Innovation Programme Expert Panel, regularly supporting Defra and Innovate UK on aspects of their funding schemes. Previously, Kate led Innovative Farmers, a not-for-profit network of ‘field labs’ supporting farmers and researchers to co-design on-farm research.

Chris Lyons

With a background in innovation, internationalisation, funding and grass roots agriculture Chris is Agricultural Lead at Innovate UK. Chris currently works with a diverse range of innovative businesses through funded projects across the various agricultural subsectors, with an increasing focus on regenerative farming approaches and reducing emissions.

Thomas Slattery

Thomas is a strategic communications specialist leading outreach and engagement for the ADOPT Support Hub under the UK’s Farming Innovation Programme. Committed to bridging the gap between emerging agricultural practices and practical, on-farm application, ADOPT helps farmers across England trial, adopt, and share innovative solutions that drive productivity and sustainability. Thomas is dedicated to empowering farmer-led research and fostering peer-to-peer knowledge exchange in the agri-tech sector.

  • Closing date to apply for the 1st round facilitator support grant is the 11th June
  • Deadline for 1st round of Full Grant funding is the 25th June 2025
  • Second round of funding opening immediately after this on the 26th June.
