Raising the Standard: Rearing All Calves with Care and Purpose
📅 21 April 2026
📍 Hartpury College
The CAN Conference 2026 brings together farmers, veterinarians, industry partners, researchers, and training providers to support the delivery of the new GB Calf Strategy and drive practical improvements in calf rearing across Great Britain.
The conference will focus on how calves can be given the right start through consistent, evidence-based management. The programme will combine strategic insight with practical application, featuring national priorities, interactive workshop sessions, and opportunities for open discussion and knowledge sharing.
Delegates will take part in group workshop rotations covering key themes including calf housing, health and disease management, hygiene and feeding, on-farm technology, and the future of skills, training, and qualifications for calf rearing and youngstock management. The day will also include on-farm demonstrations and time to network with peers and industry representatives.
The event will conclude with a panel discussion bringing together farmers, vets, industry and researchers to explore what “rearing all calves with care and purpose” means in practice, and how the goals of the GB Calf Strategy can be applied across different farming systems.
The CAN Calf Conference is designed to be practical, collaborative, and forward-looking, providing attendees with valuable insight, shared learning, and opportunities to help shape the future of calf rearing.
