About this event
Join us at Northleaze Farm to see how technology and data can help:
•Improve cow health and longevity
•Advance cow welfare
•Boost productivity
•Reduce antibiotic use
The day is kindly hosted by Robert Mallett who was the Farmer’s Weekly 2020 Dairy Farmer of the Year winner. From three-times-a-day milking, the 230 head of holstein have an annual average yield of 11,407 litres, of which 4,390 litres comes from forage.
Robert runs a rotational grazing system and carefully monitors grass covers, targeting entry covers of 3,000kg dry matter (DM)/ha and removing the mob once a residual of 1,500kg DM/ha is achieved.
Topics will include the use of 'Cow Manager' ear tags to monitor individual cow behaviour, allowing earlier detection of disease and reduced medicine use. Robert will also discuss increased cow longevity within his herd from improved breeding strategies and the use of data across the business to inform management.
