Garfield Weston Community of Practice

A community of practice (CoP) is a group of people who "share a concern or a passion for something they do, and who learn how to do it better through regular interaction". The specifics of who participates in a CoP and how often they interact is very flexible and is best decided by the group itself. The lifespan of a CoP is also flexible based on how quickly the group decide they have reached their chosen outcomes. Testimonial

For farmers, the benefits of participating in a community of practice may include:

  • An increase in knowledge resulting from peer-to-peer learning
  • An increase in skills gained from the experiences of others
  • Ideas and support to improve farm practice
  • Access to research, scientists, technology, and other industry experts
  • The opportunity to be part of an expert support group of like-minded professionals.

With support from the Garfield Weston Foundation and the Frank Parkinson Agricultural Trust, IfA will run 4 COPs working with a group of pioneering farmers to improve practice and collectively work to advance farm resilience.
