The UK’s Broiler Innovation Network (BIN) is being established as part of a European-wide project called BroilerNet, which aims to enhance the resilience and sustainability of the broiler sector.
The UK network will promote the exchange of ideas and good practices to improve broiler health management, welfare, and environmental sustainability. It is open to broiler farmers and anyone working in the broiler industry.
The network’s facilitator will be Laura Palczynski from Innovation for Agriculture (IfA), working in collaboration with the British Poultry Council (BPC) and the Royal Agricultural University (RAU) as the UK partners in BroilerNet.
What are the benefits of participating?
- BroilerNet is farmer and industry-led, which means any innovations or practices promoted by the network will be driven by people who have practical, relevant insights and experiences
- Spark ideas to improve broiler and business performance, and adapt to rising input costs
- BroilerNet will conduct cost-benefit analysis on the most popular farm practices, to support decision making
- The UK BIN is one of 13 national networks from across Europe, so there will be opportunities to widen networks and gain insight from other countries
- Other BINs in: Ireland, Portugal, Spain, France, the Netherlands, Poland, Germany, Sweden, Finland, Slovenia, Italy and Greece
- Strengthen the reputation of the broiler industry by contributing to this good news story
What does participation entail?
- 2 (online) meetings per year (in 2023, 2024 and 2025)
- In March – May to identify challenges and opportunities
- In September – November to identify related good practices
- Contact with other network members between meetings (optional)
- Opportunity to participate in the European-level BroilerNet networks (optional)
