
Job Profile: Soils and Natural Resources Advisor
Department: Soil and Natural Resources Team
Innovation for Agriculture (IfA) is an independent organisation working with farmers to develop the knowledge that will ensure farming is sustainable, resilient and productive. We connect farmers with farming research by running practical and interactive workshops, farm walks and on farm events, specialising in peer-to-peer learning.
Summary of this role
This is an exciting role working in the soils and natural resources team. There will be a variety of projects supporting farmers to respond to current challenges in resource management by understanding soil health, water resources, climate emergency and nature friendly farming.
We are expecting applicants to have farming experience and an agroecology background enabling them to interact with farmers and build strong working relationships within the industry.

Home based with regular travel throughout the UK and a willingness to travel within the EU when necessary. The IfA offices are at Stoneleigh Park, Warwickshire. |
Job Summary |
This role will be to support the SNR team by working with farmers to identify and adopt best practices which will be communicated via farm events, workshops and online meetings. |
Key responsibilities |
Working with farmer groups in a variety of areas to understand carbon, soil health, agroecology including change management and peer to peer learning. This role will include delivery of EU projects, working with farmer user groups promoting the use of digital tools. The role will also include contribution to the day to day running of IFA, dealing with writing copy, media communications and timely reports. |

Person Specification
Essential
- Educated to Degree level in Agriculture/ Regenerative Agronomy
- Practical agricultural experience with a technical understanding of inputs, soils and water management
- Produce reports, newsletter articles and presentations
- Team player
- Competent IT skills
- Ability to travel, flexible working hours to cover events and away trips.
- Understanding of Project Management techniques
- Personal and communication skills
- Car and full license
Desirable
- Experience of working with farmers
- Understanding of research process
- Knowledge of sustainable soils management and climate change
